I know the teething hasn't even really started yet (nothing is through anyway), but when will it end? CeCe has not slept worth a hoot in days. Yes I said hoot. I think I spent half the night in the rocker-recliner with her last night. I feel refreshed.
On the positive side though, CeCe has been rolling around like crazy as of late and sits up pretty well by herself too. When she's not miserable with her teeth, she is a really happy baby. She eats 'solids' great but usually has to go straight to the tub when she is done.
It was warm enough yesterday to turn the sprinklers on for the girls. We've had two days of +30 weather here. Unfortunately, it has been cold for so long that the pool never got over 19. Too cold for me.
We have been doing a bit of a clean/purge in the house as of late and selling a bunch of stuff on kijiji. It is amazing what people will buy and how fast they respond to an ad. Yesterday we had quite a few people coming, so Julie stayed in the house while I took the girls for a bike ride. Jorja rode her own bike, and I hitched up the chariot to put CeCe into behind my bike. I didn't feel like supervising a tricycle ride with CeCe along. So by the time I had everything hooked up, I figured we should at least go around the block twice. The first time Jorja said we were having a race. By the second lap, she was yelling, "It's not a race!" Fickle little thing. At one point, I was riding beside her coasting when she looked over. She then started to coast as well. I asked her what she was doing and she just said she was riding like me. Needless to say, it was more about the fresh air and being out of the house than exercise for me. Later.

Focus
I'm not sure if it's just the age or her personality, but Ginny always seems to have her head somewhere else than the task at hand. When I'm helping her put on her sandals or flip-flops, she is laying down, trying to get a toy for CeCe, saying how thirsty she is, anything other that cooperating. All she has to do is hold her foot fairly stiff so that I can get the little piece of plastic between her toes. "Ginny! Straighten out your toes. Look here. Focus!" When she is getting dressed, sometimes she has trouble with her pants, especially if she is putting on leggings. So I go to help her and again, all she has to do is point her toes down. "Ginny! Point your toes. Focus!"
Yesterday I took Jorja and Ginny around the block, Jorja on her bike and Ginny on her tricycle. I must be a sucker for punishment, because that is a long way to assist the tricycle rider. She does pretty good with the pedalling part (much better than Jorja ever did), but the steering leaves something to be desired. Jorja is miles ahead of us, and waiting. "Okay Ginny look where Jorja is. Aim your handle bars for her." So we start pedalling. Oh look, dandelion...hard left. Oh look, puddle...hard right. Oh look, bird...even harder right. "Ginny! You have to go straight. Look ahead and drive that way, not all over the place. Focus!" At this point she stops, looks at me and asks, "Dad, is Focus a boy or a girl?" Apparently not a girl. Later.

My animal
This morning we attempted to go for a bike ride with the whole family. A while back, we had bought an attachment for Julie's bike where Jorja can ride behind her. It has handle bars, pedals, and one wheel, and attaches to the seat post of the big bike. Ginny rides in the seat on the back of my bike, and then I pull CeCe in the chariot. It turned out that there were some kinks to be worked out in the assembly if Jorja's bike attachment (by kinks I mean that after they took one corner, the trailer bike shifted so much that she was leaning something fierce). We were all helmeted up and the other two kids were loaded, so I just took Jorja's trailer off and got out her bike. Well, she's not really up to going anywhere too far too quickly. So Julie went for a ride by herself while I rode with Jorja and then I took the other two girls for a ride while Julie biked close to home with Jorja. CeCe really enjoyed the ride - she fell asleep. I just came in from the garage now, and I believe the kinks have been worked out, so we'll have to see when the sun shines again. Maybe we can make it as far as the park or something.
A few days ago, our super dandelion puller broke. I think maybe it has already done a lifetime worth of work, but we thought we would try taking it back anyway. We no longer had the receipt, but we gave it a whirl. We walked into Canadian Tire, I explained the issue, the clerk said that the Fiskar has a lifetime exchange warranty, so she went and got a new one off the shelf, and we were done. We were so impressed.
This evening Jorja was getting ready for bed, and I was teasing her saying I wanted to sleep with one of her stuffed animals (she has a Care Bear that she got when she was 18 months old and a panda bear she calls Bamboo that she must sleep with every night). I said I really wanted to sleep with Bamboo. She replied, "No Dad, Mommy is your animal." If you only knew Jorja, if you only knew... Later.

GGGGOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!
No, I'm not watching the World Cup, just the Parkridge Parakeets, and Jorja scored today. It was kind of a fluke, but she was in there enough to get it, not off somewhere looking at dandelions, so that was good. She was so proud of herself (and so was I) that she turned around and came running toward me waving and grinning from ear to ear.
Jorja, Ginny and I went for a bike ride today, Jorja on hers and Ginny and me on mine. We went twice around the crescent today - a new distance record. It was in the late afternoon, and Ginny was actually starting to fall asleep in the seat on the back of my bike. Jorja, who has named her bike Jasmine, decided today that the bike should have a middle name 'Speedy.' Because that's appropriate. We were on the back side of the crescent, and when they paved it, they took three swaths sown the street, so there's a visible line a little wider than where the parked cars are. I told Jorja that we just had to stay on the right hand side of that line, and we would be all right. She replied, "That line there that God made on the road." Yeah, that's the one. Later.

I don't really know what to say today, so I'm just posting some pictures from the past several weeks.

The weekend
I've got to be honest, the reason I didn't write anything yesterday was that I was too irritated. By the time the girls were in bed and asleep, I was done. Let's just say that Ginny didn't get a sticker this morning. CeCe was not very happy most of the day - she's been such a good baby, we've been spoiled. We were at the Pet Land in Stonebridge yesterday afternoon, and she screamed the whole way home, just inconsolable.
Today has been a much better day, except for the usual few hiccups. We went to church this morning, and that was good. The girls really love going now. Jorja has had such awesome Sunday school teachers all along, and Ginny loves to go play in the 'toddwer woom'. She knows most of the other kids names, and talks about going to play with them.
We went to Jerry's for breakfast/lunch after church (we go to the early service, so we're done by 10:30). We sat in the back by the new kids' play area, and let the girls go play before our food came. I've got to say, it was the most relaxing time we've had in a restaurant probably since we had kids. There was no telling them to sit still/quit drinking all your chocolate milk/stop fighting with your sister/put that down/do you want to go sit in the car?/leave your sister alone. They were well behaved, we could see them, but couldn't hear them (and we were within earshot, so that was good). There was no fighting, just getting along. It was nice. On the downside, CeCe was ready for her bottle, so Julie was feeding her. There's one thing I should know by now after three kids is to always have a change of clothes for the baby in the diaper bag. This is a rule we usually live by, but I forgot to replace the clothes after our last explosive outing. Just as our name was being called saying our food was ready, Julie noticed a discolouration on CeCe's tights. Oh oh. I took her to the bathroom to change her, and it wasn't good. The diaper shirt was affected as well as the tights, and there was nothing in the diaper bag. So I changed her, put her poopy clothes back on, and we gave her a bath when we got home.
It was actually nice enough to go outside this afternoon. It was cool, but it was dry, so we took advantage of it. The girls wanted to go for a bike ride, so we did, Jorja on hers, Ginny and me on mine. There's one thing Jorja lacks when riding her bike, and that is focus. She likes to ride in front, which is fine, but then she wants to talk and see us, so she turns her head around while still riding. When you are four years old, this is not a good idea. 'Jorja, look where you're going. Don't hit that car...Jorja, there's a car coming, stay on our side of the road...You can't just stop right in front of me.' Yes, it's always an adventure. We had just went by a parked car, and there was a guy outside in his driveway that I didn't see till we were right there. He was laughing when he said hi and waved. He must have thought we were crazy. Then Jorja asks me, "Dad, is your bike as fast as mine?" Yeah, like it's the bike.
We got the call this evening that soccer starts this week Tuesday. I'm curious to see what Jorja is like this year. She was pretty timid last year, kind of followed the play around, and made sure the ball didn't actually come to her. She was more concerned with the way her hair was bouncing around while she ran. And the water bottle. The Tim Horton's water bottle was always empty at the end of a game. However, the forecast is for a high of 7 and rain, so we'll see.
Right now, Julie is watching 'Animal Autopsy' on the National Geographic channel. This episode is of an elephant. She is fascinated with it. I told her that strange things pop out to her on the program guide. There is no way that would have even registered for me, and she picked it out right away. "Animal autopsy, what's that? Click on it once, let me see. Yeah, give me some HD." And she accuses me of being a high definition snob. Let me tell you, an elephant's bowels in HD are pretty impressive.
Anyhow, I think that's about it for tonight. There's no preschool tomorrow, so I'm not sure what we'll do yet. There's actually only 8 more preschool days (one of which I'm the helper), and then we're done for the summer. What are we going to do for three months?

Shots
Today, CeCe had to have her first set of immunizations - one shot in each leg. I've always hated that part, but I'm the shot guy. I've taken both girls for all theirs so far, and it works better that way. Anyway, she did pretty good, and now weighs 11 lbs 9 oz.
After the shots, CeCe and I came home, and it wasn't quite time to get Jorja from preschool yet, so Julie, Ginny, CeCe and I went to M&M to pick up some kabobs to BBQ for supper. On the way home, we stopped at the Coop and Julie picked the girls up a can of orange pop to share, and some 5 cent candies. Then we picked Jorja up and went home and they had a 'picnic' with their treats in the back yard. It could have been a five star restaurant the way they thought this was so special. Except for Ginny trying to talk with gummy candy sticking her teeth together - that was pretty funny.
They took their shoes off after their picnic and were playing in the yard. Ginny was colouring with sidewalk chalk when she saw a spider. Jorja came running by with very determined look on her face. "I've just got to get my shoe so I can kill this spider. I've got to smack it in the head." Ahh, the mighty hunter strikes again.
We went for a bike ride after supper, Jorja on her's, and I had Ginny in the seat on the back of mine. As we were biking Jorja asked, "Does God love us all the time? Even when we do bad things?" I assured her He did, and asked if there was something she wanted to tell me. "No, just wondering." Hmmmm...
I got a blister on my finger yesterday working in the yard, and it popped and ripped off before I was done. This evening Jorja grabbed in and I said ouch. Then I showed it to her. She got this really serious, concerned look an her face. "What is that Dad. Will the skin come back." I assured her it would and she wanted to know if it hurt. A little I said. "You shouldn't let anyone touch that Dad, not even you. You shouls use your other hand for stuff." I think it was quite unsettling to her, kind of cute.
Well, here's hoping there's some sleep tonight.

Killing things
It was finally nice enough to go outside today. We went for a walk around the crescent, Jorja rode her bike and I pulled Ginny and CeCe in the wagon. Jorja is getting pretty good - no where near losing the training wheels, but all right. She calls her bike Jasmine, and talks to it as she rides, chastises it when it takes a wrong turn, or falls over.
Then we played outside in the back yard for a while. I was holding CeCe when Jorja came running over saying there was a beetle in the wagon. "Ginny, stay away from the beetle, they can sting sometimes." I'm not sure where she got that from, but oh well. Anyway, I tell her that she should kill it. No way, she says. I then remind her how she killed an ant a couple of days earlier. This gives her a new sense of courage and she says, "Watch out Ginny, I've got to go kill something." Ahh, the brave hunter.
I'm now watching the late showing of Survivor. Gotta run.
